JULES
JURGENSEN HISTORY
Jules Jurgensen has a history that dates back
to the early 1700’s. It is one of the very oldest
continuous watch companies in existence today with
a heritage that extends to Denmark, France and
finally Switzerland, the capital of watch making
world in the 18th and 19th centuries. Each of the
Jurgensen family, in succession, were schooled
and served apprenticeships under the finest watchmakers
of the day. The Jurgensen family reputation is
built on fine quality and innovative concepts.
Jules Jurgensen watches and the Jurgensen families
have received many international awards and acknowledgements
through out the decades with notoriety such as
the official watchmakers to the Royal Navy. The
imperial crown logo on each and every Jules Jurgensen
watch predates the crown you see on other prestigious
watches currently being sold in the industry. Both
Jules and Urban Jurgensen were knighted by the
King of Denmark who recognized their extraordinary
skills and made each of them, respectfully, the
official watchmakers to the King. Their reputation
soon spread rapidly around the world. Jules Jurgensen
watches have been presented by presidents and kings
as gifts of distinction to visiting dignitaries.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt presented the
doctor who helped save his life with a Jules Jurgensen
watch. On more than one occasion, the white house
security staff was presented Jules Jurgensen watches
by the President.
Our collection today continues in the family tradition of quality and creativity. We make approximately 400 different models and we are introducing many new ones each year. Our collection runs from the traditional to the very contemporary, from ultra elegant to the highest fashion. We work in several metals including stainless steel, silver and 14K gold. We use genuine diamonds and many varieties of precious and semi-precious stones.
As Mr. Morton Clayman has stated, the owner of
Jules Jurgensen since the 1970’s, in today’s competitive market it is our customer’s advantage that Jules Jurgensen has retained the history, tradition and skills that have been passed down through generations. We still proudly assemble many of our watches by hand and within the province of the United States of America. Jules Jurgensen is often referred to throughout the industry as “The Jewelers Brand”,
this due to the commitment and fulfillment to
the product needs and services of satisfied customers
and retail jewelers across the globe.
HELBROS HISTORY
The name Helbros has been synonymous with quality and
affordable time-telling since it’s inception in 1913.
The name actually comes from its founders, the Helbein
Brothers. They were middle class Swiss German watchmakers
who set out with one primary goal...that goal being
to design and manufacture a quality timepiece that
could be made affordable to the working public. 1913
was an era when only the relatively well-to-do could
afford a timepiece.
The two brother’s success was enough to make their
watch brand, Helbros, a household name throughout the
20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Helbros to this very day
represents quality at an affordable and competitive
price.
In the 1940’s, Helbros was very much in the midst of the War Bond efforts of the United States. In the 1960’s, we designed a watch that actually told lunar time. That watch was presented to the Museum in New York and is still a part of their treasure trove today.
The interesting part of the history of Helbros is that while other watch companies have changed ownership many, many times in their relatively short history, Helbros has only ever been in the hands of three ownerships…each interestingly enough trained by the previous.
The current Helbros still boasts management dating to 1972, trained by the management in place from the 1940’s, in turn trained by the Helbeins themselves. The mission of 1913 still remains the same today…..quality and affordability!
